Yesterday I was talking all day over the phone with clients. Sometimes business and daily problems make us forget how important it is to hear the others and especially the ones who are the “fuel that moves our company’s engine”. This time, as I try many times, I invested my time in listening to them, hearing how they see things, what they didn’t like last year, what changes they propose for my company, if our service matches their standards and (As we are for the moment some of the very rare crazy people who do “after sales service in real estate business in Romania”) if they are satisfied by our services after their purchase.

I was very pleased to find out that people are happy with their investments. I have written down the notifications and all the proposals and I hope that soon you will all notice the changes. Thanks for the advices, they are really precious.

About Monday’s topic, I would like to continue adding more about European Union and how Romanians understand it. Today and on Monday, 4th of February, I would like to describe to you the 3 basic social categories in Romania and their perception for Europe.

The 3 main categories of Romanian population today and their approach to Europe

So, today in Romanian society we can find 3 main categories of population. (I exclude the ones who left abroad, for who we will talk another day):

1. The ones who have grabbed the opportunity and, based on the tremendous economic growth, they have entered the “capitalistic way of living”. They earn a lot, they feel proud of themselves and lots of them have even become slightly (or more) arrogant, because of their success. This is the most promising part of Romanian society today, the leaders of today and tomorrow. More or less they represent a 20% of the total population today, spreaded all around the country, with this percentage varied from 10% in some poor areas up to 35 – 45% in Bucharest and other major cities.

* If you discuss with the people who are part of this category, you will see many different approaches towards Europe. Mainly we can sum them up in 2:
* There are the ones who don’t really care about Europe, they made money in 1.000.000 different ways and now they just feel they know all and they will find ways to gain more from Europe etc. (In my opinion more than half of these people will lose their money in the next 5 – 10 years exactly in the same way as they created their big bank accounts: Without to understand it!)
* Also, there is a very big number of people who really thinks about Europe and their future in it. They read, they search and they try to find more about the benefits of E.U.
