Interview with Ilias Papageorgiadis, General Manager, More International Invest, Romania.
– What are the reasons that have motivated your participation in SIMA this year?
– We are one of the leading real estate brokering companies in Romania. Based on the fact that Romanian market still having many opportunities for investments and other European markets have reduced expectations, we have created a strategy to present ourselves and the dynamic Romanian market to all the “key markets” for our country. We have chosen SIMA to participate in because Spain is among these key countries.
– What are the main goals you want to achieve in the fair?
– Mainly, we want to become well known and enter in the “top three list” of Spanish investors’ minds interested in Romania. We will show the opportunities and explain the great potential and the reasons that make Romania “the right place to be”. Moreover, we would like to share with Spanish investors our particular way to approach clients, to understand and to serve them.
– Why is Romania a good place to invest?
– Romania is a big country, with around 22 million inhabitants. It is the biggest in the Balkans region, having the critical “size” for becoming area’s leader. It already has become the local “hub” and “investor’s destination”, also due to its “key location” in the European map.
Romania is a member of the European Union but, in many categories, properties prices still lower than similar ones in other E.U. countries. Also, we have a huge potential in the residential sector, as 90% of Romanians will be interested in purchasing a new residence in the next 10 years, while at least 40% will actually purchase their new home.
Another advantage for investors is legislation, fiscal code and town planning are relatively new, very flexible and practical. With more than twenty cities with over 200,000 habitants, Romania has the capacity to support investments around all the country and not only in Bucharest.
Last but not least, in Romania is really easy for a foreign investor to enter into the market, invest, make profits and do whatever they want with their capital, with no implications of any kind.
