1st of March: The day of “Martisor”

What a lovely day it was… The 1st day of Spring was so sunny, with the temperature rising up to 18 degrees and the sun offering us his special warming smile. All ladies were receiving by men flowers, while in some parts of Romania (such as Romanian Moldova) the ladies offered flowers to men. Except the flowers, there is also the “martisor”, a tiny string, in red and white. Everyone was wearing it in his / her hand, an old tradition with many symbols that we have in Greece too (you know, in some things Romanians and Greeks are exactly the same and I was finding so funny the attempts of people around me to explain to me what this custom is, although I already know it).
The weekend found almost all people “somewhere out”. Keep in mind that people here enjoy leaving the center of the city in every possible chance and in Spring and Summer period you see them every Friday or in weekends “emigrating” with destination any place that has green or blue (parks, forests or lakes).
