Romania through my eyes

Replying to you – 4th part (and last…)

Except the books of Petros Markaris (famous Greek author for crime books), Sebastian Falkes and John Grisham that I read last week (and some super new jokes that I learned), I also found some time to reply to some of your last posts. Hopefully next week I will be able to share with you a story that is tickling me for over a month, regarding a shepherd who was the first multi millionaire who I met in my life, back in the innocent age of 18 – 19 years… (I find it useless to reply to the messages which just have some nice words about me. I thank all the senders for their kind words and I promise [...]

Northern Greece, another part of… Romania!

The first part of my vacation is over. Yes, Thasos island is simply F A N T A S T I C and if any of you wants some special hints and places where he / she can feel closer to paradise, let me know, I refreshed my memory the previous days and also discovered many new spots, especially the tremendous resort Makryammos (http://makryammos-hotel.gr/), which has almost anything you ever dreamed for your vacation! (Needless to say that the service, the quality of food, organization of beach and the fantastic quality of water there can not be compared with the – more expensive – “5 star hotels” [...]

Listening to you…replies to your comments part 3

Vacation – Books and “I became Romanian”… “You became Romanian” my mother commented after me complaining for the situation in several aspects of Greece. All the family is together, today I leave for the first part of my vacation, but I still see around me and I get very upset. Many times I complain for the problems and the stupidities I see in Romania, but I always find this country as an example of progress, as a place where things move fast and they improve much more than even the native residents can realize. Back in Greece, dealing with the same problems, with no news for years, [...]

I have received so many comments; I will do a big effort to reply to as much as I can. Before I start with my replies, I have for you 3 links that one of you has sent to me. They are from Financial Times and they are really [...]

Listening to you / Replying to your questions part 1

Today I will only reply to some of the comments I have received. I was really surprised to find out that in just 2 days, without any advertisement or special promotion, we had some thousands of readers. I am very happy to find out that people are really interested in what is going on around them and they have a strong opinion, either we or agree or not (this is the pleasure of Democracy). Also I would like to thank mrs Cerasela Marin, journalist in the site www.hotnews.ro, as she did an excellent job translating almost all my article to Romanian language, adding also her own approach. So, for [...]

Welcome to the avant premiere of our new film!

“Greece 1999 – Romania 2008: This reminds me of something…” The set and script of the film: 1999, Greece. It was a hot summer, probably one of the hottest in the last 20 years, in terms of temperatures. But it was for sure the hottest summer in the recent history of Greece, in terms of economy. The stock market was in an “upwards wave” since the spring of 1998, but that summer almost every day we had new records coming. The artificial wealth spread in the Greek society was beyond any expectation. Almost 2 million Greek families (out of estimated 3 million) were gambling in stocks, [...]
