Romania through my eyes

Are we ready for the New World? (part 1)

“I work as an escort in London’s Canary Wharf. Do you have any sound business advice on how workers in my industry should tackle the sudden drop in demand following the recent collapse of Lehman Brothers?”. This was a question I read in Financial Times newspaper, on Sunday 5th of October, in the weekend’s edition. The column is called “Solving readers’ dilemmas with the tools of Adam Smith” and the answer was quite funny but the third proposal by the journalist Tim Harford was the most interesting of all: “You may find that escort services are a little like estate agency, in that [...]

A Solution is needed: Dealing rooms have become “panic rooms”

Isn’t very weird? Last week I was telling you that the fair price of Leu should be 1 euro / 4,5 leu. Today I will tell you that either mr Isarescu will do his miracle again, or sooner or later Leu will drop down in a violent way. (In my opinion, as I already have stated many times in the past too, the Governor of the National Bank of Romania, mr Isarescu, is a key factor of stability in Romania all these years). Last week the Romanian currency disappeared from the market. As it was announced in a conference, this happened so as to prevent speculators from gambling against it. But now we have [...]

Romania still doesn’t have any Competitor in South Eastern Europe

If you want to see the first part of  the answer, together his comment and questions, press here: http://http://www.iliaspapageorgiadis.ro/english/?p=152 The fundamentals of Romanian economy are healthy Let us talk about the trade deficit. Please find for me a country which does not have this problem, except China, Germany and few more. USA and almost all European countries are in the same direction since we know this world. Leu should drop to 1 euro / 4.5 leu

I am tested, these are my answers… (part 1) Leu should drop to 1 euro / 4.5 leu My friends, I think you have overestimated me a little bit (or a lot). I am a high school graduate, without any university degree at all and I have received an email by a technical analyst, who really challenged me. I will do my best to reply to him (and together with him to all of you), but I will ask you to be gentle with me, because I will try to tell you truths that Romanians don’t like listening to (exactly as Greeks never like to hear their truths too). So, the comment I received was: “Well, it looks [...]

Gossiping 2

A really successful businessman… Sunday afternoon, in Radu Beller area, Bucharest. The coffee places are half full, thus lots of parking lots are available. A young guy leaves driving his Maybach (I guess he wanted to feel more secure, this is why he bought a 600.000 euro car – hopefully not by leasing…) and now there are three available parking places. Two seconds after, a big Mercedes illegally turns left and now it is in front of the three parking plots. After mature thought (I guess), the driver chooses to reject all three and to park his car exactly where is the line of pedestrians, [...]

Gossiping…

The closed Stock Market and the scenarios… On Friday the Stock Market of Bucharest did not open, it remained closed. I didn’t notice in the news if it was announced or not, but my friends who know a lot tell me two versions of a similar story (Ofcourse I wasn’t present, I can not be sure): One told me that the Market didn’t open at all, because there were 0 biddings for stocks and the authorities were afraid to open it, as all the prices would be at limit down. The other one informed me that it didn’t open but during the day there were few biddings. People with experience of several [...]
