Yesterday was a big night for my country, Greece, as we had elections and a new government was elected. In the same time, I had been organizing another 7 political campaigns and the results were very good. But now all these belong to history. Yesterday evening I flied to Munich, so as to be present today at EXPO REAL, where my Romanian company, MORE Real Estate Services, is the only brokerage and consulting company from Romania which participates here with a stand. We are not alone though, but together with “Proiect Bucuresti”, a leading architectural firm from Romania. We are the only ones with a stand here. Actually we share the same stand, as we agreed to split the costs and come here together.
You know… there was a very big discussion over the previous months regarding the Romanian participation in this major exhibition. EXPO REAL is definitely one of the top Real Estate events of the year, the first important one after the vacation period, setting up the trends for the period to come. You can also name it the second most important in Europe, after MIPIM in March. My company participates with a stand for the last 3 years, so we decided to renew our presence. This brought us in front of a problem. Should we be part of the “stand organized by the Municipality of Bucharest”? Or maybe the “stand organized by the German – Romanian Billateral Chamber of Commerce”?
We were open for both cases, as long as the costs were “under control”. Finally both these scenarios collapsed, as there were not many companies willing to come (and the Municipality didn’t really have budget for this, as I was informed). So, we proposed to the companies which expressed their interest to join those missions to come with us and all together to have a big stand, representing Romania, covering almost all fields of services and products. Unfortunately the answer was negative, even if the costs were less than half than the above mentioned scenarios. So, we ended up… “by ourselves”…
Is it bad to be the only ones representing Romania? A major Romanian company, with its French development manager and another Romanian company, with its CEO and deputy CEO, both Greeks? I personally don’t have any problem, I am proud to represent and promote this country. But I hope that in the future we will achieve to have better organization and more companies to join this kind of major events. We all want to promote Romania, in a healthy and honest way. We should try to let our “Balkan temperament” aside and work for the common good.
But now all these belong to the past. EXPO REAL starts today and we, MORE Real Estate Services, are happy and proud to be here. Let us see what it will be this time, as in 2007 we had hundreds of people interested and in 2008 we had a very limited number of people. Now?

PS. No, the “ARAI”, the Romanian Association of Real Estate Agencies, is not here as well. I guess there are more important events and conferences for their representatives to attend. In nicer, warmer cities…

      Hello from Munich!
