Madrid is the second largest Romanian city in the world…

Hola from rainy Madrid (I love this city even if it would rain forever). Yesterday we were all day in the exhibition, the same that my colleagues and me will do today and the next days. I heard and I did not know that Madrid is the second largest Romanian city in the world. I knew that hundreds of thousands of Romanians live here, but the latest updates refer to almost 1 million (!) Romanians being here now, while the unofficial information talks about 2 million Romanian citizens living in whole Spanish territory!
So, after Bucharest, Madrid can be declared as the second largest city of Romania. Everywhere you go, especially in the means of transportation, Romanian is the second language you hear, after the Spanish. Please keep in mind that all these people work here, receiving as salary nothing less than 800 euro / month, many times it is more. They receive more than 1,5 billion euro / month (if the figure of 2 million Romanians in Spain is correct), out of which a very big part returns back to the mother land, changing the life of their families.
I will write to you more about this part of Romanian society, as very few people realize how important it is. For me, a Greek who knows very well what emigration means (my family emigrated 80 years ago, in our city tens of thousands of people emigrated etc) the whole story reminds me the Greeks in Germany. They went to work as cheap labour and now the majority of them are businessmen, having more money than the average Greek family. They all bought one residence back to their homeland, they all sent money, all come for vacation spending much more than any tourist would spend. Romanians seem to do exactly the same. But in the time of speed, as this decade is, they do it faster than we did it in the ’60s and the ’70s. Already they started entering business in higher levels, they have increased their consuming power VERY much and they will be one of the “pillars” of Real Estate market in the future.
This is why it was very wise move by some other Romanian Real Estate agency that they opened branches in Spain, this is why I already started signing agreements with agencies from Madrid, this is one of the reasons I chose to be this year in SIMA, Madrid. Now someone can ask me “ok, then why do you tell your secret to the others?”. Simply because they know it anyway (if they don’t know it, they don’t deserve being involved in this business) and because I will impose my own strategy in this project, which of course will not be announced.
Last but not least, keep in mind that some Spanish banks (like La Caixa and others) started granding loans to Romanians, allowing them to buy a property back in Romania, with the guarantee of their income in Spain. This I consider serious marketing policy by the marketing department of a bank…

Hola from rainy Madrid (I love this city even if it would rain forever).
