Thursday night at Illusions (Bucharest)

Friday at Aquarium (Timisoara)

It was an interesting night indeed. Last Thursday I was invited at the opening of “Illusions” restaurant, a new “hotspot” at the downtown of Bucharest, across the Italian embassy. The PR company “Civitas” did a great job at the organization, as it was full of people (including several Romanian celebrities as well). A very stylish place, which looks impressive at first, a Romanian chef with over 10 years of experience abroad, warm people smiling (you know I have a problem when I am served by grumpy guys) and mostly an investment which stands out of the crowd. The owner dared to invest over 1.400.000 euro at this period, so as to create something really very beautiful. He also introduces in Romania the idea of “private suites”, offering a suite for 12 people at the price of 2.000 euro, for unlimited food and drinks (and complete privacy). Is it going to work? I don’t know, I will wait you, the society, to decide upon that. But I will definitely pay it a visit soon and I wish good luck to his general manager Mr Aris Tsouros and his team of professionals.

On Friday I was at Timisoara for my usual “20 meetings per day” programme when I travel out of Bucharest. I have a friend there, with several business (the story of how we became friends should be presented here soon, I think it is interesting). He has a restaurant and hotel where you can relax at a 100% calm environment, but the most interesting (of his 3 restaurants) is definitely “Aquarium”. Located at the last floor of the tallest office building in Timisoara, it creates a nice feeling for the visitor with good food, polite warm people and the best view of the city to all directions. Especially if you are curious like me and you want to understand and direct yourself in a city, a lunch or dinner there will solve your problem for Timisoara. Great place to be!

PS. I feel guilty for Saturday. I proposed to some very good friends of mine to go together to a “fish restaurant by the lake”, here in Bucharest. It couldn’t have been worse… Too much “fitze”, too slow people, too rude, too expensive, too simple and small portions, too many people who desperately wanted to be seen (each of them for his / her own reasons)… We remained hungry and got upset a bit, as this situation made us open a discussion with a topic where our opinions collide. In my opinion we disagreed at 20%, at theirs at 100%. If I wouldn’t be a good friend with them for some years now, this restaurant could probably end our relation, with its negative atmosphere. Thank God I enjoy having friends with who I can disagree, this is the beauty of discussing and having your own opinion and arguments (ofcourse they should be also mature so as to make the difference, doesn’t stand for all cases).
