Constanta, Romania’s greenest county

Constanta, Tulcea, Galati, Caras-Severin and Braila are the leading Romanian counties with respect to the installed power of green energy. According to zf.ro calculations based on Transelectrica information and reports Dec 12, 2012, Constanta is Romania’s greenest county,  where there have been installed wind turbines in excess of 1000 MW worth EUR 1.5 bln.

The five counties have so far drawn investments worth over 2.5 bln euro, most of which goes into wind projects. Data also shows that Prahova is the main location of wind projects, Alba, biomass, and Hunedoara, micro hydropower stations. The most renewable energy-prone areas are Oltenia, solar farms with 172-plus MW plugged to the National Power Grid, worth  over 200 M euro. Dobrogea ranks tops, wind power wise, and Northern Transylvania, with respect to biomass projects.
